Her passion stems from living among the exiled Tibetan population in McLeodganj, India, where she gained a profound understanding of their struggles and the pain of being separated from their homeland.

With a keen understanding of Tibetan history and culture, Orton's "Across the Snow Mountains: From Tibet to Exile" presents a rich historical backdrop against which the inspiring stories of four Tibetan women unfold.
